WTF?

George Carlin has died.

I can’t believe this. Well, I can believe it because he was old and he didn’t take fabulous care of himself during his lifetime. I probably started hearing and reading George Carlin’s work long before I should have. My father was a big fan on his and wrote a paper supporting Carlin’s position for his law group in regards to Carlin’s “Filthy Words” monologue. I was lucky enough to see George Carlin perform live in Chicago back in 1998 or 1999. My friend and I had orchestra pit seats. I highly recommend reading his book Brain Droppings.

Carlin was amazing. I always admired his brilliant intellect, his love of language, and his dark cynical view of humanity.

If it’s true that our species is alone in the universe, then I’d have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

RIP George Carlin and thank you for all the laughing fits you gave me and all the complex issues you made me look at. I hope your soul’s not stuck on the roof.
